'The Whole Works of Sir James Ware Concerning Ireland' – Revised and Improved. Vol I only of three. The lower half of the title page is missing, making it difficult to be certain of the edition. It is probably that printed for the author by E. Jones (Dublin) in 1739. The only surviving copperplate engraving is the fold-out ground plan of St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny. This volume provides biographies of Irish bishops and archbishops, organised by dioceses. There is an armorial bookplate to ‘John Coghlan, Esq’ on front paste-down, and inscription of ‘J. Monahan, Dean of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise’ on title page. Internally, text and binding in very good condition.
